Spend a morning looking round the independent shops on the high street before treating yourselves to coffee and a slice of homemade cake in one of the lovely village cafes. A 5-minute stroll from the front door will take you down to the beach, where you can enjoy a gentle walk or simply stop a moment and take in the stunning, far-reaching views across the bay. A short walk in the other direction will take you to the delightful Wolf House Gallery, where you'll find a great selection of local art and handmade gifts to admire and purchase. There is also a relaxed and characterful cafe that is well known for its high-quality food and creative menu, so be sure to try it out! There are plenty of local footpaths to explore from the front door too, including to Jenny Brown's Point where you'll be rewarded with fantastic views out to the sea. Walk over the unique Silverdale Lotts towards neighbouring Arnside or explore Arnside Knott itself, a haven for local wildlife.
If you fancy heading slightly further afield, there's plenty of choice for a day out. The whole area of Arnside and Silverdale is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and you'll soon see why. Explore the nature reserves at Warton Crag and Gait Barrows, whilst for keen ornithologists the RSPB nature reserve at Leighton Moss is a must. Why not head south to popular Morecambe Bay? Sign up for a guided walk across the sands (don't venture out by yourselves) or hire bikes and cycle along the picturesque promenade.
