My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Cruck Barn. The road and track to the barn wasnt as bad as I was expected, a normal car is absolutely fine as long as you dont speed down the track! It is beautifully located in a peaceful spot and an ideal base to walk Helvellyn. The barn was really cosy, comfortable and had everything we could want. The inRead moreternet was great with Netflix and iPlayer options on the TV. The views from every aspect are stunning. Ultimately we didnt want to leave! Hide

Excellent base to explore Ullswater and the Grisedale valley. The cottage is lovely to stay in with exposed beams and yet it is very modern too. With the location you certainly feel you are getting away from it all

Great location for walkers - didn't use the car in two weeks. Clients need to be aware the view from the cottage is very limited as it is situated behind a barn and ElmHow holiday cottage. Otherwise perfect.

My week at Cruck Barn was absolutely wonderful, I cannot wait to return. Its setting is glorious - the sights and sounds are quite overwhelming. I loved the daily walk to and from Patterdale and being surrounded by tumbling streams, bah-ing sheep, cattle a-lowing & majestic views of Helvellyn & fells. A fantastic accommodation in a magical setting- perfect for those who want to be alone in the mountains . Well appointed and equipped, warm and comfortable, the road ( single track lane) is most suitable for a 4x4 .. but our VW managed it ok.

Cottage was lovely, entrance round the back if you're arriving at night as we did.. take a torch! Everything was in good condition and worked, it felt very cosy, though no log fire, and the outdoors was stunning, waterfall outside back door, close to the Helvellyn trail which descends with dramatic views of Ullswater into Glenridding. We loved this cottage , we parked the car up and didnt move it until we left due to the great location. We walked through a week of storms and had no problems drying clothes, draughts or noise. The cottage layout was excellent allowing a cool bedroom and the rest of it warm. We will and have recommended it.
